Emil Ascherberg Antique Grand Piano constructed in Dresden Germany from Burl Walnut with a steel frame. The piano is in great condition however it does require tuning.
The Ascherberg Piano Company was not a well-known production manufacturer of pianos, but rather a custom company that created individual pianos for individual collectors like Queen Liliuokalani, the very musical last Queen of Hawaii for her Iolani Palace in Honolulu.
Queen Liliuokalani was overthrown in 1893 and her Ascherberg grand piano is still in the palace which is now a state museum.
The Ascherberg Company, however, was quite well-known as music publishers – Ascherberg, Hopwood & Crew, and the name still survives. However their archives were lost in a fire.
It has been said that the Ascherberg Company was bombed out of existence during the Second World War and no records or other information have remained.
